20 MICRONS's Process four
different type of Carbonates available in Chalk, Calcite,
Marble and Dolomite. Chalk is formed by shells of NANOFOSSILS.
this is fine microcrystalline material. Chalk quarries are
located at Gujarat, India.
Calcite is also of biogenic
origin but more compacted than Chalk. Best Quality Calcite
is found in Rajasthan. Marble is formed by chemical recrystallisation
of Chalk or Limestone. Excellent quality Marble is located
in Gujarat. Dolomite is a rock forming mineral of high purity
and whiteness. Chemically, it is double carbonate of Calcium
and Magnesium. Exceptionally good quality Dolomite is available
in Gujarat.
High quality stones are manually
selected at the mines and after chemical tests for purity,
are sent to works for further processing.
Large lumps are crushed
to smaller size of 10 mm and washed to remove any impurities.
These chips of 10 mm are ground and micronised in latest grinding
equipments as per customer requirements, varying from 37 microns
(top-cut) to 3 microns (top-cut).
These uncoated micronised
carbonate products are further processed by a unique MICRON-COATING
process, where the particles are surface-treated with various
fatty acids or coupling agents. These are then marketed as
coated products.
By MICRON-COATING, the
particles become extremely hydrophobic, with increased compatibility
with Polymers and other additives.
