Attapulgite is magnesium alumino silicate mineral with a very high water absorption capacity. It has nano tubular structure, hence it acts as a sponge for water absorption unlike Montmorillonite Clays, it doesn’t trap water in layers. It has a surface area of approx. 250 m2/g and adsorption capacity of 200% water by weight. During the digestion process (intestinal tractus), it absorbs internally and stabilizes excess produced water with antidiarrheal action and effective protection of intestinal microflora of productive animals from pathogens leading to an enhancement of digestive function.

Attapulgite is a kind of crystalloid hydrous magnesium alumino-silicate mineral, having a special laminated chain structure in which there is a crystalline lattice displacement. Attapulgite has very good colloidal properties such as: high dispersion, high temperature endurance, salt and alkali resistance, and also high adsorbing and de-coloring capabilities. Furthermore, Attapulgite has certain plastic and adhesive characteristics.
